Christian missions: good or bad?

 
    This topic poses a bit of a dilemma. There have been christians, like Dominican friar Bartolomeo de las Casas, who have actually stood up for Indians and their basic human rights, but there also have been christians who have been hurting Indians very badly, like the ones who were running the reservations and the Indian schools. In the time of the Spanish conquest it was the friars who played an active role in protecting the natives from the ruthless treatment by the conquistadores.
